[ BLOG : 18 ] HUSHE VILLAGE( the village of pure soil and kind people)

Asslamualikum to all the readers of this blog . My todays blog is for a village that I visited back in 2015 and this place is really going to amaze you how in a place so far , people are making out of life many amount you might not be familiar with this village but this village has made me believe in * SITARO SA AGAY JAHAN OR BHI HEIN * not only because it is highly remote area but also because of what the local people have done to rise the name of their village . The blog is dedicated to everyone living in HUSHE ❤

INTRODUCTION:-

The village of Hushe is located in the far North of Pakistan in the district of Ghangche , Gilgit-Baltisan . It is pronounced as HOO-SHEYY. It has an elevation of 3068m which makes It to mark a position in one of the highest settlements . The population of Hushe is around 1200 and there are almost 200-250 households . the region of Hushe spreads wide in about few hundred km2 . Hushe is a gateway to many well known peaks and it is the last village with settlements around the shyok river .Both the culture and language of Hushe is Balti . the religion Islam is observed within the people of Hushe .Hushe is famous for its nice fertile land , mountaineers and ofcourse its location .

THE NAME STORY:-

The name Hushe is connected with the background history of the creation of the village itself but generally the word Hushe is composed of 2 words ” hush ” in Hushe means moist whereas ” shay” in Hushe means land . It all together means the moist land . why is it called that ? read the next paragraph for that 😛

HISTORICAL BACKGROUND:-

It is to be said that hushe is about 200-300 years old . And the reason for the creation of human settlements there is water and fertile land ( which has been the reason for the creation of civilisations from centuries ) . A lake nearby hushe helped in its creation when the people of Konday ( a village before hushe ) manage to break the lake with the help of ibex’s horn . After the breaking of bank of the land the water started to flow and with in the span of years the land absorbed the water which made the land of mountains fertile enough to grow crops ( and trust me they have the yummiest vegetables specially the patatos ❤ ❤ ❤ ) . When crops were installed then eventually people started to make their home on this land . Also on an observation I personally think its the settlement in hushe , Monday , and other villages, is just expanded version of the Khaplu and the dynasty of khaplu .

GEOGRAPHICAL BACKGROUND :-

The beautiful village is gate way to many peaks such as

  • Laila peak
  • chagolosia
  • honboro kangri
  • masherburm.
  • Gasherburm 1
  • gasherbrum 2
  • and other members of the K family ( yes k2 too yet the askole side is frequently used by the mountaineers )
  • passes such as GGLA

It is the last village in its series which starts from khaplu ,lhalde you cross a bridge to be on a road till hushe ) , bale Gond ,kund, minjlu , kanday and then Hushe at the end

A river called hushe river flows all along the series of villages which gets dissolved in Shyok river .

FACTS ABOUT HUSHE :-

It would take you about 4-5 hours to reach hushe from Khaplu and ofcourse you can get there only on 4×4 vehicle . And with no doubt the road / trek till hushe is made up by the local people not the government ^-_-^ . ( or hum umeed bhi kiya ker sakta ? ). Because of living in a highly remote area , the locals aint much established yet with the passage of time hushe has been modernised and better then what it was before ; even now it isn’t the poorest or underdeveloped area , and many of THE PEOPLE OF HUSHE have worked hard for their land and the generations . people of hushe have been educated as well over the time . on your way to hushe you will get to see schools till middle level . But once again the welfare has been done by the people themselves rather then the government .Anyways on your way till hushe you will find plenty of things to eat not only fresh fruits or dry fruits or vegetables you will also get to enjoy fishes ( yummy )

han ya machli he ha :’D . you can ask them to make it according to your choice as well

PEOPLE OF HUSHE :-

hushe has a vibe because of it’s people I mean you will get to see the cutest kids playing and running around the area with the bright beautiful smiles and those red cheeks ( oh my my ) . In Hushe you will get to see men being the breadwinners of the family and they work all around the year as tour guides , mountainieers ( see next heading ) , hotel mangers , drivers , or workers at their field , where as women mostly do the household workings and field work . More over you will also find the people of hushe working in other areas of Pakistan as well

Talking about the way the people are , they will never let any visitor to go bad with a bad memory ; Inshort the people of Hushe are kind and loving and much hospitable and also they make the best French fries ( I can’t control my I will keep on saying it again and again 😛 )

CLIMBERS OF HUSHE :-

This blog is incomplete without the discussion of the mountaineers of hushe , even the definition of hushe is incomplete without their mention .

one of the best and well known mountaineers of Pakistan are from Hushe . Mr Little Karim (Mohammad Karim ) and Hassan Jan hushe are among them . I will literary write another thousand words if I started talking about them . I the biggest example for their working is that their village their valley is known by their name .

In the recent events more of mountaineers have came out as the record makers amount them were :

Yousuf Ali  ,Inayat Ali ,Mohammad Ilyas ,Ali Durrani ,Mushtaq Ahmed ,Yousuf Meeri
,Muhammad Hassan ,Muhammad Ali Aman  ,Zakir Hussain  , Hussain Ali  ,Zulfikar Ali
and Shujat Ali

but the list of talented climbers from hushe is long

MY THOUGHTS ON HUSHE :-

I am feeling happy right now while writing this blog . this brought back so many memories specially the taste of those fries 😛 ( we brought 10 kg of potato till Lahore and I remember how every after of ours was the yummiest :p ) a part from being a foodie I also seek for nature and yes no doubt Hushe is beautiful in its own way and I’m sure this village is going to offer even more of talent and benefit to Pakistan in future ( inshallah ) .

and yes I totally recommend this place to those who take a vow to not ruin the beauty of Hushe

PEOPLE OF HUSHE ARE ALSO FAMOUS FOR THIER CULTURAL PERFORMENCES
